Stand or Semi-Stand?

When Andrea taught me to develop B&W film a few years ago, she also introduced me to Rodinal and stand development. She might have (at the time) told me that other developers can be used in the same way but, if she did, I don't remember. So it came as a surprise when I learnt (a week or so back) that LC29 can be used for stand developing.

With a roll of exposed PolypanF, and a depleted stock of Rodinal, I decided to give it a go. These were developed in LC29, 1+100 for 70mins (I pushed the PPF a stop so increased developing time by an arbitrary 10 mins) and I'm pleased with the results (if not the content of some of the other pics on the roll).

Whilst doing a bit of a background research on the subject of stand developing, I also found that what I refer to as 'stand' is referred to (by some) as 'semi-stand'. This is because I gently agitate (rotation and inversion) the film in the developer for the first minute, and then again (inversion) for a minute halfway through the developing period. Anyone care to shed more light?
